Participants’ Meeting

A participants’ meeting is held once a year, alternating between the ECA or ESHG conference. The meeting includes presentations by the Scheme Co-ordinator and the Quality Manager. There is also time for participants discuss the Scheme and ways to improve it.

This year’s Participants Meeting will take place during the ECA Conference in Dublin at the end of June. All participants are notified in advance by email of the exact date and venue.

Participants’ Feedback

The opinion of our participants plays a major part in the shaping and development of the Scheme. The Scheme Office from time to time solicits feedback on the running of EQA rounds, relevance of cases, timing etc. The feedback is collected through an online questionnaire where most questions are multiple choice. In addition to that, participants can make specific comments or suggestions.

Any participant feedback is presented to the SC prior to disseminating the findings to participants by email

The workshop will focus on all aspects concerning cancer cytogenetics. Technical aspects such as conventional karyotyping, methods and principles of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and new methods in cytogenetics such as micro-array genomic profiling, MLPA and next generation sequencing will be discussed. Practical exercises will be offered with the ISCN 2013 system for chromosome aberrations and with cytogenetic and genomic databases. Participants will have the opportunity to present their own observations and cytogenetic findings which are difficult to interpret.
