Training Cytogeneticists is approached in different ways within the EU. In some countries assessment of trainees is undertaken 'in house' whereas other countries have National Standards that trainees have to meet or a system of examination and assessment.
Once trained, cytogeneticists are also expected to continue their professional development. Chromosome abnormalities are rare such that it is difficult to gain wide experience and exposure to a wide range of abnormalities during the training period.
This web-based personal assessment system has a dual purpose:
- to assist trainees and supervisors in learning and teaching respectively,
- to enable trained cytogeneticists to continue their professional development.
To enter the web-based personal assessment system you need to register beforehand. There is an annual administration charge. For more details and to register, click the Register link below. Alternatively, you can email Eurogentest at orh.nhs.uk (please replace 'at' with @ when emailing).
Please note the user name and password for the personal assessment system is linked to the individual, not the laboratory.
To register, click the Register button. If you have already registered, please click the Login button and enter your username and password when prompted.
